Specialized Dockets

Ashtabula County has various specialized treatment courts available.  Below is a list of the Specialized Docket Courts.  If you are interested in participating in one of these courts, please notify your attorney to begin the application process.

Ashtabula Municipal Court:

Ashtabula Recovery Court 

Ashtabula Recovery Court serves offenders charged with misdemeanors who have drug abuse or drug dependency issues.  A participant must be a resident of Ashtabula County.  Recovery Court offers intervention in lieu of conviction (diversion) or post-conviction.  The program is voluntary and the meetings are every Wednesday.  

Ashtabula County Juvenile Court:

Family Drug Court 

The Ashtabula County Juvenile Family Drug Court serves individuals who are involved with the Ashtabula County Children Services Board (CSB).  The program is designed to assist parents to achieve sobriety, recieve appropriate treatment and make positive changes in their lives.  

The Family Drug Court is a referral based, voluntary program.  The program requires that a participant reside in Ashtabula County and have an open case with Ashtabula County CSB.

Eastern Area Court 

Veteran's Court

The Eastern Area Veteran's Court is a specialized treatment court for veterans and active duty service members that have been charged with a misdemeanor.  Veteran's Court is unique in that it provides services to surrounding lower level courts throughout Ashtabula County.  

The goal of the Veteran's Court is to bridge the gap to the services available to veterans and create a network of support systems to enable them to continue as productive members of the community. 

The Veteran's Court requires that each participant reside in Ashtabula County and be a veteran or active duty service member.  The Court is voluntary and the minimum committment is one (1) year. 

Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court 

Ashtabula County Drug Court

The Ashtabula County Drug Court offers a Diversion option and a Post-Conviction option. The program is voluntary and requires residency in Ashtabula County. The link below offers detailed information about each program.

Ashtabula County Mental Health Court

Similar to the Ashtabula County Drug Court, Mental Health Court offers both a Diversion option and a Post-Conviction option.  The Mental Health Court addresses those candidates that have a persistant mental health diagnosis that have been charged with a felony offense.  The program is voluntary and requires residency in Ashtabula County.  The link below offers detailed information about each program.

Conneaut Municipal Court 

Renewal Court

Renewal Court serves Ashtabula County residents who have either a mental health disorder or a substance abuse disorder that has contributed to the commission of the charged offenses, and who require more intensive court-monitored treatment in order to enhance their ability to lead a law abiding life.    

Renewal Court has both a diversion option and post-conviction option. Renewal Court is voluntary.     

Renewal Court requires that each participant reside in Ashtabula County.  Renewal Court permits candidates who offend in another jurisdiction in Ashtabula County, but reside in Conneaut to have their case transferred to Renewal Court upon qualification.
